Custom Tracksuit Branding: Planning Logos, Panels and Colourways

A tracksuit presents a brand across two garments. A strong jacket layout can look unbalanced next to trousers with a competing logo or an unrelated stripe. Planning the complete set before sampling helps brands and clubs make their identity clear without adding unnecessary decoration.

Assign a role to each mark

Separate the manufacturer or clothing brand logo, club crest, sponsor artwork and personalisation. Decide which marks are essential and which are optional. Prepare a front-and-back drawing for both garments so the supplier can see the complete arrangement.

For a club programme, identify elements that change between orders. A crest, sponsor or initials may vary while the base design stays the same. Keep those variable elements on a separate artwork sheet, with a clear approval process for each version.

Specify logo size and position in measurements

Record each logo’s width and height, its placement reference and the intended technique. Position can be measured from a seam, zip or another stable point, but define exactly which point is used. A mock-up showing a logo floating over the chest is not a complete placement instruction.

Review trouser branding when the wearer is standing and seated. Check whether a jacket hem hides the mark or whether a pocket interrupts it. On different sizes, decide whether the artwork stays the same size or follows an agreed scaling plan.

Choose decoration with the material

Ask for a trial of the proposed print, transfer, embroidery or badge on the intended fabric. Evaluate the appearance, feel and reverse side before confirming the method. Do not assume a technique approved on one fabric will give the same result on another.

If the logo crosses a seam or sits close to a zip, discuss placement and construction before sampling. Moving the artwork slightly may produce a cleaner result than forcing a complex application into a small area.

Approve colourways as complete sets

Place the jacket fabric, trouser fabric, contrast panels, zip tape and rib trims together. Record colour references and review physical samples under consistent lighting. Matching colour names alone do not establish an acceptable match between different materials.

For a repeatable programme, keep a colourway sheet with codes for every component. Note whether a stripe is a sewn panel, tape or print: visually similar details can involve different materials and production steps.

Prepare an accurate branding quotation

Send quantities by colourway and size, logo files, placement drawings and the required label and packaging details. Ask the quotation to distinguish the base garments from variable decoration. Confirm whether the quoted unit is one garment or one complete jacket-and-trouser set.
